CS1 Residential Outdoor Sauna

Project:

Residential Outdoor Sauna

Criteria:

These homeowners have two teenage children and expected that both parents and kids they would want to enjoy time in the sauna with friends. Based on this and the size of their yard it seemed clear that a 6-person outdoor sauna would suit their family and their lifestyle.

The solution that fit best was the Saunabuilder Kilimanjaro sauna.

The perfect solution!

This exterior wood-burning sauna is the perfect example of how Saunabuilder can customize any sauna to fit your needs.

The overall design is based on our pre-designed Kilimanjaro model with a couple of modifications. We extended the stylish shed roof sideways from the building to provide a sheltered area to relax after and in-between sauna sessions. Cedar posts joined with traditional mortise and tenon joints frame the roof area, the underside of the roof is finished in cedar soffit to match the cascading deck stairs. A Harvia wood-burning stove completes the all clear cedar interior, the glow and crackle of a burning fire seen through the clear stove door provides an unmatched traditional experience.

The customer chose Heathered Moss green for the HardiePlank exterior, the grey trim color Pebble clay from Royal building products complements the soft green and darker cedar. A semi-transparent stain emphasizes the cedar’s natural woodgrain and provided a contrast to the soft, exterior color palette. Endless color options truly provide each customer a one-of-a-kind product tailored to their specific tastes.

Because this family chose one of our pre-designed models we were able to start work right away. From start of construction, the project was completed in 3 weeks and the result was total success. One summer season later they already have the area surrounding the sauna building landscaped so that it looks as if it always has been there, in total harmony with the environment!
