KANANASKIS NORDIC SPA:
Pushing the Boundaries of Sauna Design
Designing and building one of Western Canada’s largest outdoor commercial saunas in the Canadian Rockies was both a challenge and a triumph.
We created two saunas – an intimate 8-person retreat and Western Canada’s largest, accommodating 30 guests. Inspired by the surrounding landscape, each features custom cedar accents carved into the shapes of Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette. Panoramic windows frame the peaks while preserving privacy, offering an immersive, nature-infused experience.
Built for endurance and seamless year-round use, these saunas blend design, durability, and comfort.

Where Design and Craftsmanship Define Wellness
Clear Nordic Spa in Calgary is a wellness retreat designed for pure renewal, offering a silent, intimate escape with hot and cold pools, serene relaxation zones, and a focus on stillness. It’s a place where mind, body, and spirit come into harmony.
Brought in as expert consultants from the start, we played a key role in shaping the project – guiding mechanical and electrical systems, building assemblies, room layouts, and material selections. The result: two custom-built indoor saunas that seamlessly blend with the spa’s clean, tranquil aesthetic.

a Space for Connection, Recovery, and Community
We had the privilege of working with Nina Hill and Katherine Smith – two visionary entrepreneurs who transformed a run club into a sanctuary for connection and well-being. In a world of burnout and daily pressures, they created something new for Calgary – a place to recharge, recover, and escape the grind.
At its center is Calgary’s largest indoor sauna, a 35-person space designed for contrast therapy. Bringing this vision to life was both inspiring and rewarding, knowing it will foster community, restoration, and shared experiences.

EAU CLAIRE ATHLETIC CLUB:
Modern Wellness in a Historic Calgary Landmark
Eau Claire Athletic Club is a members-only wellness and fitness destination located in Calgary’s historic Eau Claire YMCA building. Spanning over 100,000 square feet, the club brings together high-performance athletic facilities, advanced recovery therapies, and social spaces, all designed to support a modern, balanced lifestyle.
As part of the club’s 2,000 sq ft Nordic spa, we designed and built two custom saunas to support daily use while preserving the building’s historic character. The result is a spa space that feels both modern and timeless, seamlessly integrated into its original setting. The sauna sits alongside a full range of thermal and recovery features, including hot and cold plunge pools, steam rooms, a float tank, and quiet zones for rest.

Solstice Sauna in North Hatley is a wood-fired, lakeside retreat that combines Nordic tradition with a strong sense of community.
Between the sauna’s heat and the plunge into Lake Massawippi, it offers relaxation, reflection, and genuine connection.

THE LADY MACDONALD INN:
the Beauty of Sauna Meets the Majesty of the Rockies
Nestled in Canmore, Alberta, the Lady MacDonald Inn is a family-owned boutique hotel dedicated to wellness and the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. This project marked a milestone – Alberta’s first commercial wood-burning sauna, creating an immersive outdoor retreat.
A crackling wood stove fills the space with radiant heat, while expansive windows frame breathtaking mountain views. Just steps away, a cold plunge tub offers invigorating contrast, and a covered porch invites guests to unwind in the crisp alpine air.
Blending nature and craftsmanship, this sauna is a fusion of fire, ice, and the Rockies’ awe-inspiring beauty.

a New Wellness Experience for a Thriving Community Hub
The Olds Aquatic Centre is a gathering place for recreation, learning, and community programs. To create an amenity that would benefit residents for years to come, the town chose to use a long-standing community donation to add a new 10-person sauna that we designed and built.
The sauna is fully integrated into the pool deck and built to support frequent public use. Its layout, materials, and visibility requirements were tailored to the needs of a busy aquatic facility, providing a practical and durable addition to the centre.
